Six Sentence Sunday

Heirs and Graces is off being beta'd, and I'm making progress with editing the book that started me on Edward's story, Searching for Julia (which I always think of as Linda's story for reasons that probably only the picowrimo folk will follow). Anyway, today's six come from immediately after last week's. In Heirs and Graces, Edward is still trying to effect that career change he was thinking about:

Edward pondered the etiquette of smoking Cuban cigars in an establishment frequented by those tasked with enacting Britain's foreign policy. He decided that he quite frankly didn't care, and lit one anyway. "I would like to tender my resignation."

"Forgive me for pointing out the obvious, but you aren't, strictly speaking, employed by any part of Her Majesty's Civil Service; therefore, you can hardly resign from a post you don't hold."

"Then I withdraw my services. I don't need the money, and I've had enough of the risks.

I've got three more sets of six lined up from this story, but then I may end the year with more of a variety of extracts.

To see what other people have been posting this week, go to the website here and follow the links to all the story extracts, with something to suit every taste.
