Lune Aqueduct

While in Lancaster for a course, I went on a bit of an explore with my camera. I'd been sitting down all day, and needed to stretch my legs and get some fresh air. So I set off on foot from my hotel to a place I'd spotted from the car:

I followed a path out of the car park, and found stone circles, ponds, and carved seats:

A little further along the path, I came to a place where it had flooded:

Not wanting to completely retrace my steps, I scrambled up a steep embankment, hoping to reach the towpath. I got a great view of the aqueduct, but found myself on the opposite side of the canal to the main towpath:

I could see a road bridge ahead, so I clambered through the undergrowth and around a turning pond, only to find my way blocked by a tall, padlocked gate and a thick hedge:

So, this time I retraced my setps completely and found another way up onto the towpath:

The towpath looked like it would head all the way into town, so I cut through some woods back onto the main road, and from there walked back to my hotel:

There seems to be a lot to see and do in Lancaster, so I plan to go up there for a whole day soon.
