Six Sentence Sunday

Almost at the end of my current round of edits with Heirs and Graces, and for this week's six we move into October 1963. Consolata has just announced to Edward that she'd quite like to try being properly married (conveniently forgetting that she had started the whole process as a means to give her child a future):

He really should have been expecting that. Well, he liked kissing, and he liked Consolata, though possibly -- probably -- not in that way, and he hadn't tried anything new recently. Other than getting married, and up until now that had mostly been a business matter.

Kissing Consolata wasn't that different to kissing anyone else, he found. There were the obvious contrasts: her skin was softer and smoother, and her mouth was maybe a little smaller, but the mechanics were very much the same. The experience was... enjoyable. Not arousing, but pleasant enough.
