A Thought (still true after 350 years)

From The Sociable Companions; Or, The Female Wits by Margaret Cavendish, Duchess of Newcastle.

The Lieutenant is listing ways they (a bunch of impoverished cavaliers) might acquire money, if not by marrying it: '... or frequent Taverns and Ordinaries that are customed with Noble Guests, and leave them to Pay thy Share, that will be an honourable Living; and a Hundred such waies there be, to get an honest Living.'

I've met people who do that on a regular basis.
