Weekend Writing Warriors

Another Sunday, and another round of Weekend Writing Warriors. I've made decent writing progress again this week, but here we're following on from last Sunday's excerpt from my WIP Finding Rupert and Rupert is trying to find some common ground with the village boys:

"What about football?" This boy seemed more insistent than the first two.

Rupert thought quickly. He'd been to one Edinburgh derby with Clarence and his family, who all supported Hearts, and remembered that the team had been promoted at the end of the previous season. He couldn't remember anything useful that he could say about Hibernian, other than that they were traditionally the Catholic team in the city. "Hearts." It almost felt like a betrayal, except that Irish Catholics living in Scotland weren't quite the same as Italian Catholics living in the United States.

"Oh, the Scottish League."

To see what the others have been writing, go over there and give folks some comment-love.

[ETA:] Edited slightly for clarity regarding the origins of the peoples Rupert is comparing.
