This is Why It's Called Speed Hill Climb

On Saturday I was back at Shelsley Walsh, watching cars go up the hill I'd walked up the previous Sunday. It was (only) the Practice Day for The Big One (multiple rounds of various championships), so no records were broken, but the fastest cars still did the 1,000 yards (this being a track that's over a century old) in less than 25 seconds.

I also bumped into people I hadn't seen in almost a decade and was shocked that one of my old gang now has grey hair (but he's younger than me!).

Obviously I took photos:

Some spectators came in very nice cars:

Early in the day, a car lost oil all the way up, kindly marking the racing line for everyone else.

Near the bottom of the hill:

Slightly further up:

Looking up towards Bottom S:

In the middle of the Esses:

My camera battery gave up before I could get any shots near the Finish, but this one may give you an idea of how fast some of the cars were going:

Full set starts here.
