Two Castles, a Lifeboat Station and a Brass Band Concert

Two weeks ago, I spent another sunny Sunday on the Kent coast. I started off at Walmer Castle:



It's not particularly impressive inside, but has some fine views over the sea


And some even more impressive gardens


My favourite was, of course, the kitchen garden


And its hothouse plants


Although I also liked the Queen Mother's garden

After that I set off along the coastal path in search of another castle:

I passed a wide variety of very pretty houses


And boats


Then I came to the Lifeboat Station


Where I bought a couple of secondhand books before carrying on again past more pretty houses


Eventually I arrived at Deal Castle:

It's round


And it has more stunning views


Plus lots of photo opportunities inside

On my way back, a brass band had started up in the bandstand, so I bought an ice cream and listened for a while:
